Summer's End

Image
What a busy Summer it has been here on our little 'farmette'! Two weddings within five months of each other! Grandchildren visits! Gardens, Gardens, Gardens! Camp Outs! Puppies, Puppies, Puppies! Fun ~ Love ~ Memories! Welcome Friends and Family! I created this cozy indoor garden spot in our entry.  I love being surrounded by green growing plants! Summer may be coming to an end, but by bringing in the live plants it is an oasis in the middle of Winter in our entryway.    This is a great spot to sit with a hot beverage on a cold winter day and watch the birds on the bird feeder just outside the window. Summer was fun and full of memories. I am looking forward to the cooler, crisper days of Fall. But most of all, I look forward to the new memories made!

Garden Weeds

Image
Farm Girl Garden Tools I'm pretty basic when it comes to weeding the garden. I have this short handled hand-hoe that was my mother-in-laws that works wonders to dig up tough weeds. My knee pad and gloves complete the ensemble of farm girl tools. After tilling the rows, I spend a lot of time on my knees with my little hand-hoe getting out those stubborn weeds in between the plants. While I'm on my knees, I might as well say a prayer or two for friends and family!    Gardening is my number one favorite thing to do. I love the solitude of early morning work outside. Now, when I was a kid, gardening was torture!   Those looong rows of green beans that my mom grew were never ending!!!! But I guess with age comes appreciation for digging in the dirt!    Finally taking a break in the shade!    Enjoying the beauty!   My Garden © Marie Church As I look o...

Puppy Love

Image
Meet our two new 'babies'! And they called it "Puppy Love"! Our daughter and new husband's dog Mekah had puppies and  we just couldn't resist!!! They are Boxers (with a bit of Rhodesian Ridgeback). Adorable! In fact all family members took all seven puppies! It has been a puppy fiasco here on the farm! We have had the joy of 'puppy-sitting', on numerous occasions, the siblings while family members went on vacation!  It has been a comedy movie in the making! I swear I'm talking in my sleep...."go potty"..."no bite"! Puppy training is intense...but rewarding. We love you Bishop and DeDe.... AND Lola, Chloe, Grimm, LeLo & Little Bit!

Potting Shed

Image
Garden Shed It's a cold Spring here in Missouri. This is my garden shed.  It was previously my goat pen and milk house. I no longer own my sweet milk goats, but thought it would be a cute garden shed.  It is decorated with my rusty relics! The Herb Garden will be planted right in front.  Inside the garden shed holds some unique treasures! The old cookstove used to be my moms.  The old sink is useful in potting plants! I will be selling potted plants at the Iron Horse Primitives Out Door Market throughout the season.  I love using old rustic containers as planters. Our farmette is loaded with unique planters and rusty relics!
