Buy Local

Image
The Holiday Season is here already! The big retail businesses are already cramming three holidays sales together...almost in the same isle! The season can be stressful and overwhelming! The pressure from the media to shop, buy, spend has begun. My solution is to choose unique, quaint shopping experiences by supporting local, family owned businesses. Not only will you find unique gift items but you will be building relationships with 'real people' just like you who are striving to keep life just a little simpler.

Cowgirl Up!

Grand-daughter Micah is all about the pink boots! These little boots are the logo to our Country Shoppe . We aren't quite ready to 'give up' the Fall Season here in Missouri. But, it seems we will have to adapt because the cold is coming. I'm still in the gardening mode and picking flowers with my grand-daughters! You gotta love that hat! And that smile peeking out from under it...priceless!

Fall Garden Salad

We have never grown Fall veges. I started a cold-frame of goodies: Kale, Spinach, Lettuce and Radishes. I am hoping that we can extend the growing season on these items for a couple of months. Our heirloom paste tomatoes and bell peppers are still ripening. They make the best Salsa! My hubby is the salsa man! So delicious! We will post pics of the cold-frame that hubby and I built soon.

Fall Flower Girl

Beautiful! Our grand-daughter Grace is the prettiest flower in the picture! The simple things are the most enjoyed. Little Grace loved roaming around the farm picking a basket of flowers for her mommy. When the grandchildren spend time with us they love helping with the 'chores'. It is not a chore for them to follow Na-Ma and feed the chickens, water the flowers, dig in the dirt...it's a memory.

Dragonfly

Renewal ~ Positive Forces ~ Power of Life I really love Dragonflies. I enjoy watching their wings glisten in the sun as they fly around the pond. I looked up the meaning of dragonfly and found that three phrases inspired my thinking. 'Renewal ~ Positive Forces ~ Power of Life'. As we as a family have experienced this year, 'bad things happen to good people'. My mother's diagnosis of breast cancer was one of those 'bad things'. But, through the process of her treatment, she has been an inspiration to her family. She inspires me to 'really live' this abundant life we have been given. Looking back over the years of growing up, my mom has been a creative force that has challenged me to create a life with no regrets. I'm always saying, 'you only get one...so live it'! Here are some interesting facts about dragonflies: Be Inspired! Fascinating Facts of the Dragonfly: Dragonfly eggs are laid within their territory near the water. Once
