Living Life with the Seasons
Living in northwest Missouri gives us the opportunity to really enjoy all four seasons. I love snow. But, I'm really not a fan of the cold, blustery winds that can come with it. But, we always say, if you don't like the weather here in Missouri, just stick around and it changes rather abruptly.
As a gardener I understand the need for a season of rest for the plants. We too need a season of rest. We need a time to recharge our energy. Winter is a great time to spend time in retrospect as well.
I spend a lot of time during the winter months catching up on my studies! I am always enrolled in some type of herbal educational course. I love learning!
Nature is resting. It is her season to be quiet and withdrawn.
Her roots are preparing for spring.
The natural way of things for people during the winter season,
is a time of rest and reflection. It is a time to physically replenish
with warming nutrition and foods that strengthen the
body systems from deep within.
Just like the natural world
I believe that we as people should try to follow the seasons
I believe that we as people should try to follow the seasons
and rhythms that give us strength in each new cycle.

Spring Season
When Spring is in the air, it is time for me to
get into the gardens and start clearing out the old dead plants.
Getting the soil ready for planting.
Spring brings new growth!
The energy in the plants is rising from the roots
to push forth above the earth.
It is a slow process....which is also the way to
nurture our self in the spring.
Spring is a great time to feed and nurture our
spirit ~ soul ~ body
with enrichment and gentle detox.

Summer Season
Wow! Summer always flies by!
It is a super busy time for me in the gardens....weeding mainly!
Summer is a time of growth in the garden.
Plants are making their bountiful fruit!
It takes a lot of energy for the plants to produce so much fruit.
A healthy plant needs healthy soil!
I use composted soil as well as green fertilizer to help the plants along.
My favorite green fertilizer is a 'tea' made from comfrey leaves.
Our bodies are also using a lot of energy throughout the summer.
We need to feed it organic, wholesome foods as well as high mineral teas.

Fall Season
The seasons come and go...my all time favorite is Fall!
Fall is a good time to start preparing for winter.
Plants and animals alike are making preparations for winter.
The season of rest is soon approaching.
Fall is also a great time for us to store up foods from the gardens.
We also need to prepare our bodies for health concerns that come
during the winter months.
Building our immunity is top priority to remain strengthened
for the onslaught of cold and flu season.
