As we begin a new season, we are putting together new  "The Herbal Life"  classes/workshops that will  cover many topics concerning  health and wellness. Our classes/workshops are scheduled as  all day 'come and go' events two times a month.  Follow us on FACEBOOK for dates and times. Fall is a beautiful season here on the home-place.  We love sharing the variety of colors and fragrances  in the gardens! We love spending time in the gardens watching the birds, bees and butterflies. The hummingbirds will be leaving us very soon. The finches and other birds are feasting on  the bountiful seeds from sunflowers, coneflowers and zinnias. We have various 'settee' spots for everyone to enjoy. The vintage camper spot is a favorite area to visit with friends and family. The vintage camper is also a learning center for children.  Hubby's Chickens are right in the middle of the gardens. Colors of Fall! I grow many herbs in grow bags. I love...

April Class "Herbs and Health in the Kitchen"

We love gathering with others to learn about simple ways to  live a healthier life. Our April class was so much fun! The focus for this class was nourishing and strengthening our bodies through nutrition via herbs, spices and whole foods. We had some lively conversations about 'chicken feet'! You would have had to be there!  :-) Classroom Setting We usually meet at the home place.  But, due to renovation in our home,  we utilized a lovely room in the Old School in Cameron, MO. Daughter, Leah I love it when my daughters are able to help me at each class! Herbal Tasters Tasting the different herbal preparations is a great way to introduce the medicinal properties. When you taste a 'bitter' herbal preparation, you will always think about your digestive system and the benefits that 'bitters' role in digestive health. Nutritive Tea Blend This blend is made with lovely herbs that support and nourish our body sys...

Cold and Flu Season is upon us. How can we help our body to remain healthier during  this season?  One recipe that our family uses as a preventive measure and as a remedy during illness is Fire Cider. Fire Cider is a lovely, spicy drink made with several ingredients that build the immune system as well as fight against viral and bacterial infections. "Fire Cider" is a term that renowned herbalist Rosemary Gladstar made popular through her many books, classes, herb courses and teachings. The basic recipe includes: Apple Cider Vinegar (with the mother) Ginger, Hot Peppers, Onions,  Garlic, Horseradish and Honey. However, there are other ingredients that can be added that have cold/flu fighting properties. Let's look at some ingredients:     Apple Cider Vinegar We are talking about raw, organic ACV with the 'mother'. ACV is full of vitamins and trace minerals! It helps support the systems of the body in a va...
